Another view of the scalloped channel walls. My interpretation would be that the channel was slightly narrower at night and then got slightly wider (a couple centimeters) during the day, all the while eroding downwards. The vertical scale of each scallop is about 10 cm (and hence the rate of erosion would be about 10 cm/day). The channel width is about the same from one day to the next.
