Computer Repair

February 29th, 2008

My computer had been having power issues. When I bumped the power cord it would sometimes lose the connection and the screen would dim to the battery setting. Over time it got worse to the point that if I bumped the cord wrong it would actually short the battery and shut down with no warning. Finally one day, my trusty computer, my beloved runner of Matlab, checker of email, waster of time on the internet, would simply not turn on. This had happened a couple times before but it always would wake up after I jiggled the cord a bit. But on this auspicious day, it did not respond to any of my pleas. I had all my data backed up, but a new computer would be a ways off even if I ordered it right away, so I embarked on an effort to fix my trusty workhorse.
