cornfungus
Imagine my surprise when I found this oddly shaped gray blob as I was shucking a piece of corn. It was well-concealed under the husk of the corn. It had the texture of a mushroom and was partially hollow in the center. It was well attached to the cob. There is also a black goopy mass just below it that is hard to see in the picture. It had the texture of mud. Neither of the masses smelled like much. I chose not to eat this piece of corn. I had already cooked and eaten the other four from the same batch on previous nights. I was a little worried that if I added this cob to the compost it might turn into The Thing, but so far it has not.
