A little cirque glacier (Elmore Glacier) currently resides in the top portion of Avalanche Canyon. This was our destination for this portion of the trip. The goal was to measure and map the moraines this glacier left behind as it retreated from the advanced position it had during the Little Ice Age. I stood on a moraine to take this picture. The proglacial lake is being dammed by a moraine.
