A nicely-lit snow slope with Death Valley in the distance. Death Valley, Alaska has significantly more snow than Death Valley, California. They both are hotter than the surrounding area though. Death Valley, Alaska is shaped like a bowl and somehow catches the sun's heat and tends to have low wind speeds. We are headed to a bivouac campsite on the other side of Death Valley at the top of a little icefall that you can see in the upper right.
