This monument stands at the center of the cemetary in what is left of the Manzanar Internment Camp. The left picture is the one I took March 25th, 2003, the picture on the right is the one Ansel Adams took in 1943, when the camp was active. The inscription on the monument reads: "Monument for the Pacification of Spirits." The mountain in the background is Mt. Williamson. The area is now a
National Historic Site and the National Park service is bringing a few buildings back to the site to be restored. The Library of Congress digitized a number of Ansel Adams' pictures of the camp, which included many portraits of people who lived there. The digitized images can be found
