These pillars of rock provided a nice contrast in color with the blue sky behind. While the rest of the East Groin may have been glaciated at some point in the past, it is pretty clear by the delicate nature of these pillars that they have not been covered with a glacier any time recently in geologic terms. Likewise for the basalt columns in the upper right.
