Speaking of crazy-looking features, this basalt spire on the Kukri Hills was visible from miles away. After putting in one of our high weather stations, we maintained our altitude in the helo as we began flying back to McMurdo and got pretty close to it. We estimated it to be over 100 feet tall. It almost looks as though it is composed of carefully-stacked oddly-shaped bricks.
