For a while the valley had been quite narrow, but here it began to broaden out. I struck out off the main trail at this point because my skiis really are designed more for off-trail skiing than for on-trail skiing, so off-trail is more fun. I was following someone else's tracks but it is pretty much impossible to get lost in a valley like this.
