026PizBernina

I figure the tracks I was following had to be those of a local because I kept going by trail markers that were spaced too far apart to see the next one from the last. The trail climbed slowly up the side of the valley, crossing a couple small bridges en route. Before long I was pretty high above the valley floor. But when the trail disappeared under avalanche debris, I decided to head down to the flat before continuing up the valley. This is the scene I was rewarded with at the bottom of the avalanche slope. If I'm not mistaken, that is Piz Bernina in the distance. I didn't see any animals, and there weren't many tracks like these.
