The toe of the Canada Glacier, Lake Hoare, and the Taylor Valley. The valley has two levels: the lower one partly filled by Lake Hoare and the upper one a relatively flat plateau a few hundred meters higher than the lower one but still well below the peaks beyond. The two levels correspond to two different periods of glaciation. The nature of the bedrock also clearly exerts control on the pattern.
